WISE Interns must complete a minimum of 25 hours per week for the duration of their internship based on a mutually agreed upon schedule between Sponsors and Interns.
- A senior must successfully complete all graduation requirements before being cleared to begin WISE.
- The student does not return to EHS throughout the duration of the internship except to meet with their EHS Mentor once a week.
- All internships will conclude in mid June.
- Internships are to be unpaid as the student will receive .5 credits for successfully completing WISE and the associated assignments.
- Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from the work site.
- The student makes the initial contact regarding placement. The sponsor may opt to interview the potential intern prior to accepting them as an intern.
All WISE Interns will be required to put together a presentation board about their experience and present orally at an expo style evening called the WISE Showcase. WISE Sponsors are encouraged to attend this event and a formal invitation will be forthcoming closer to the date.
As with any employee or visitor to your place of business, you will be responsible for any liability resulting from an injury sustained by the student while under your supervision on your premises. You should ensure that your workers' compensation and/or commercial general liability policies cover this type of situation.
If you would like more information about becoming a Sponsor for WISE please contact the WISE Coordinator, Julie Meyers at jmeyers@eufsdk12.org.
