Jessica Haag wins "Outstanding Educator" Award

On Monday, June 15th, EHS English teacher Jessica Haag was honored with the Outstanding Educators Award presented by Shelley Mayer. Senator Mayer recognized a select group of educators throughout the 37th Senate District who consistently demonstrate exceptional commitment and service to their students and school communities.

Haag was nominated by the Eastchester High School administration and recommended for this recognition by EUFSD Superintendent Dr. Alison Villanueva in acknowledgment of her dedication, compassion, and the welcoming and inclusive environment she cultivates for students each day.

Building administration selected Haag for her ability to foster a positive and engaging classroom culture, provide unwavering support to students on a daily basis, and consistently exceed expectations as an educator. Through her dynamic teaching and meaningful connections with students, she creates an environment where all learners feel valued, supported, and empowered to succeed.

"Being acknowledged by my building and district administrators is truly meaningful. Teaching is work that often happens quietly through daily interactions, consistent support, and moments of growth that may not always be visible," said Haag. "To have those efforts recognized feels both affirming and deeply appreciated. It feels validating to know that the time, energy, and commitment I put into creating a supportive and engaging environment for my students has made a difference.

"It’s also special to be recognized alongside other educators who are equally dedicated to their students and school communities," she added. "Being in that space is both humbling and inspiring, and it reminds me how fortunate I am to do work that I genuinely care about every day."
