An Important Message from Dr. Valenti

An Important Message from Dr. Valenti

Dear Eastchester Families & Staff,

The Eastchester Union Free School District Board of Education and District Administration are aware of recent concerns within the school district community relating to recent executive orders and how they relate to immigration enforcement within our schools.

The District wants to take this time to assure the school district community that the safety and well-being of its students are of paramount importance. To that end, the District is working with its legal counsel and relevant stakeholders to ensure legal protections for our students.

Consistent with Federal Law, New York State Law, and Board of Education Policy, immigration enforcement within the District’s schools are limited to those instances where there is a proper and lawful judicial warrant or order. To ensure compliance, the District has developed appropriate protocols to address any attempts by immigration officials to access any student in the District.

Furthermore, for added protection, the District has scheduled training with its building administrators to ensure that all relevant employees are aware of these protocols.

Through the District’s legal counsel, this training will be ongoing to ensure our staff members are up to date with all recent guidance and laws.

If you have any questions, need assistance, or would like more information, please call our District Office at (914) 793-6130, ext. 4012.

Sincerely,

Ronald D. Valenti, Ph.D.
